Xinyu Shi
Xinyu Shi is a product designer currently based in Eugene/Portland, Oregon, with a focus on Metalsmithing. They are graduating from the Product Design undergraduate program at the University of Oregon. Xinyu’s design style focuses on the function of products, but they also care about their aesthetics. They try to reduce the limitations of products to increase user accessibility. They also like to challenge the norm in terms of how a specific kind of product should be like. They design items mostly by finding innovative points from details and concepts, not just analyzing existing products from current market trends. Xinyu combines their strong skills and techniques in metalworking (fabricating, investment (lost wax) casting) and plastic working (3D modeling and printing) in their design and development process.
