What was the first question you asked when designing Moxy?
Maizy Steen: The first question that I asked myself was: how can I inspire motivation and make productivity a more enjoyable everyday experience? This guided me into thinking about the importance of having a space that positively impacts your emotions and how that can be achieved.
What challenged you the most about this project?
MS: I had never designed multiple items that needed to follow the same language before, so at first, I wasn’t used to coordinating each piece and making them all look like a family. Once I established one shape that each product would follow, it became a lot easier.
How did your project change throughout the design process?
MS: When I started this project, I was thinking mainly about the functional aspect of my objects and the organization they could provide, but as I developed them, I started to focus more on the emotions that they made me feel, and from that, I turned to a more sculptural approach that answered that question of how to turn work into a more pleasant experience.
